Belongings Stolen Overseas

The very small fine print under the theft clause of your seniors travel insurance policy could be the cause of your theft claim not being settled by the insurance company. The following illustration describes possibilities that have occurred:

A client’s bag was stolen on a Belgian train. It was placed in the dedicated rack space above the seat of the insured. The matter was reported to the police. The claim was declined on the grounds that the bag was left unsupervised in a public area.

If you read the clause in the policy document you will find that the clause’s terms and conditions cover almost every possibility definition of theft, but the requirement is:”" You must see the thief take the belongings and he should be chased  down”".

With all claims you have to be aware of the qualifying terms that make your claim indisputable. Try and think logically and predict conditions which will favour your claim.  Do not allow gaps that make you liable for the loss.
